Talking love it

i havnt read too many of these posts, just the first page and a half, but i must say im liking some of the ideas,

i love the idea of having a training yard in the guild, perhaps this could be merged with the idea of having pet kennels.

perhaps having the ability to buy new things for your guild would put the poorer guilds a bit lower on the scale as far as looks are concerned. but it has no inherent effect on the game itself. The entire idea of guilds is very capitalist, i like it dont get me wrong, but you have to save to buy a hall, it costs money buy a guild, even recruiting gets expensive! so if they do decide to introduce upgrades (lets just hope so) it wont really make a difference, but will make us all alot happier with that big empty space.

I must disagree with the idea of merchants and skill trainers in the guild hall, this would throw the game off balance meaning that low level charactors could buy skill that they would otherwise have to work hard to find a skill trainer for. as easy as this would be, so too would it destroy the concept of an rpg. however zunlai agents would be a very easy and very useful thing to add, i think this should be included in all guild halls, not just ones that have enough money.

I myself have recently set up a guild and im not worried about money as i have plenty, all i want is to be able to add little touches, make it a bit less pointless being in a guild hall. im glad that my guild hall only cost 17k and it looks awesome. but i want more, as all of you do.

i dont like the idea of penalties for losing a guild battle, after all one of the concepts of guild wars is that if you die you do not lose anything, but are instead given a temporary penalty. i think ranking guilds is fine as it is.

ok so heres MY IDEA (if this has already been suggested i apologise but i havnt read them all):
i think guilds should be able to ally with each other. this could open the doors to some real fun, for instance guilds could visit each others halls, gvgs could be expanded with ideas like double guild battles, still with 8 players each, but with a combination of members from each guild. These battles would not be ranked, but rather for fun. perhaps limitations on this would have to be implemented, maybe offering one guild your alledgience and limiting it to that, just to make it fairer istead of having a huge coalition making the new lone guilds feel inferior.

let me know what you think, im loving this thread btw
so come on arenanet! give us what we want!

[QUOTE=Ominous]OK my own critiscm is that there is no WAR in guild wars. Nothing gains and nothing lost. I suggest that you should pay a tribute to the guild that defeats yours. Some where around 60k.

If your guild can’t pay the tribute, you lose your hall, and sigil is RETURED to the sigil trader to keep the sigil prices down.

QUOTE]

to be honest i dont think this idea is a good one at all, for instance the part about challenges and giving the other team 10 minutes to get to the battle is dreadful, this is a role playing game so most if not all the members will be in quests,

another thing is guild invasions. this idea again goes against the point of the game. if you have bought a guild hall it is yours, if there is a chance to lose it then people with less money will not buy guilds, likewise if we have to pay a tribute then only wealthy players will have guilds, making the concept a stale one. fewer guilds means fewer variation in guild battles which ultimately leads to boredom. arena net do not want to see their players bored as bored players stop playing and they go bust. which is exactly why arena net needs to continue the amazing and groundbreaking work they have done so far and give us more fun in our guild halls!

Default Someone,please make a petition

Lol, me and my mate was talking about this a little while ago. I was going to make a thread on it, but I decided to search the forums first just encase and low and behold someone has already written it! Well thank you for saving me some time, and wow. What a great thread, all the ideas are A+ and if there isn’t one already. Please someone make a petition!

I would but I’m and idiot and I would probably miss something out as I haven’t read the entire thread plus, I noticed the last post was a few days ago so I though I should resurrect this post just encase the wonderful people here at guild wars guru had over looked it, so once again please someone make a petition and let me know about it please!!!

P.s Fantastic ideas, I love the ones about guild missions and NPC’s in the guild hall. Also the idea about having some monsters to practise on was a kool idea. Hell I love all the ideas lol!

unfortunately i dont know how to make a petition myself, but if someone can find out the arenanet email address they should just add a link to this thread, im sure that theyll find some of the ideas good enough to use, btw i found out today that when factions is released, guilds will be able to ally in missions etc, i havnt heard much about it, but that indicates a whole ally system being started, looks like their improving guilds after all! wonder what theyll do next?

I like this idea immensely and a lot of things could grow from this. I like all of the ideas about how to upgrade the guild hall, but i dont think it would work out if you could change the hall and change the landscape. Besides, it isn't even a guild hall, its a guild island. I think you should have your own building that you can put arenas in and npcs and games like chess or checkers. That way the island would stay the same and you would have all of the luxuries everyone was talking about. It could even be that if a member wants his own section of the building, like a house, he could buy it and get the materials to get the addition built on. An indoor arena where you could go 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and so on with your own guild would also be very cool. And for all the people who want a dwarven ale despenser there can be a pub or bar. All of the npc's would be outside on the island. Everything mentioned, (and more) besides the npc's can be not bought (except the houses for members) but earned through fights and the guild missions talked about before. I'm too lazy to go into further detail but i hope everyone likes this idea. I certainly like the idea of having a hall with all of the stuff put in it in addition to an island for the fights, than just having the island remodeled.

Why not make the guild hall access special coop missions? Kinda like the ones in factions that we will be able to access once we control a town. Just make the drops not as "'high-end'", this way it wont be abused. Just make it like an area similar to UW (the new one) without item drops like Ectos and Greens.

There should be the boat guy at one spot in the hall where you can talk to him and he takes you to an island (you would need to pay him because its a freaky area and no-one goes there for free) where you could do the mission.

Just my opinion. Maybe there should be different missions for every halls too

I don't know if this has been covered yet, I haven't read every single post in the thread, but I've noticed many, many, many impressive backgrounds/terrain features in PvE. The floating castle off the coast of kryta (Quest: Vilainy of Galrath), the tower/keep at the top of Wizard's Folly in pre-searing ascalon, The giant rock spire with a fire-breating dragon carved into it off the northern coast of Shing Jea Isle (You'll notice it in the quests to exterminate the Crimson Skull outlaws).

Lots of things that are just plain impressive. How about allowing us to make our guild-halls less-generic by allowing us (for an obscenely exorbitant fee, 50K minimum) to add these architectural features to our guild-halls? If I look off my favorite cliff (just west of the vineyard) in my Wizard's Isle guild hall, and I see the flaming-dragon spire from Shing Jea, I'm gonna feel good about it. For one, it's a huge gold sink, stimulating in-game economy (always good). For two, Anet could reserve some of the really good looking features as awards for large contests, give-aways, and accomplishments.

These would be mostly cosmetic, but still when has looking cool ever been a bad thing?

Also, I put forth this idea before, I'll just reiterate it.

A lot of other MMORPGs include an economy system. Now, I know the merchants are set up to respond to supply and demand, and that is exceptionally cool, but I would like to see a little more added.

I would like to see individual Guilds become economic powers of their own right. Not just farming in PvE, anybody can do that. Guilds get their own islands, right? The islands are different from each other, right? Why not have each guild-hall island produce certain in-game resources?

The idea is that each island produces resources (Iron, steel, wood, fibers, granite, etc..) and stores them at a central NPC, say, a Guild Foreman somewhere in the hall. The island produces a certain amount of each resource per guild member per day, but the longer each member goes without logging in, the less that player's share is produced, so people who only log on once a month don't do anything, while those of us who log in almost daily produce more.
The guild leader can set up a certain percentage of these to be sold off at current market prices at certain times of day, or elect to retain them all in the foreman's storage to be retrieved by members. Any resources sold off via the foreman get split evenly among all guild members as "wages" (so smaller guilds mean everybody gets a larger percentage, while larger guilds mean a smaller percentage of a higher number). This also eases the necessity of farming for certain resources so PvE guild members can upgrade their armors as they go.

Here's where GvG come in. If an invading guild can beat the defending guild, they can choose to "loot the treasury", so to speak, and make off with a percentage of whatever resources were stored there before being sold off.

Here's my ideas for which islands should produce which resources. Amounts produced will vary greatly, and I'm still working on which ratios work best.
Frozen: Granite, Iron, Steel, Rubies
Warrior:Wood, Dust, Cloth, Charcoal
Wizard: Fibers, Dust, Cloth, Spiritwood
Hunter:Fibers, Feathers, Vellum, Parchment
Nomad: Bones, Dust, Granite
Druid: Fibers, Wood, Cloth, Spiritwood
Dead: Bones, Dust, Tiny amount of ectoplasm (one every 4-5 days)
Burning: Iron, Granite, Steel

These are by no means definite, and feel free to amend them as needed/balanced. This is just a rough draft.

I feel that this would add an expanded sense of economy and community to the game. It would encourage both trading and raiding between guilds. Most importantly, it would stave off the diablo 2-esque "why bother playing after it's over" malaise I've heard some players express.

I got the idea while playing on Starport: Galactic Empires (Freeware massmog. Low graphics, high content.)

The whole alliance controlled town unlockable missions are already moving us toward a greater degree of player control over the setting. So, we add more interactivity into the setting, increase player involvement, and stimulate the economy, all at once. A minor modification might need to be made to the material traders, but that's doable.

What'cha think?

I just wanna say congratulations this thread made it through to arena net. Well some parts of it. Arena net supplied each of the guilds with the option of buying npcs like storage. w00t.

Five stars for the guild members being able to battle each another idea! It would be great as a pass time at the guild, make training allot easier, especialy training new builds.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I'd like to make a suggestion.

Why doesn't Anet give us our own rooms in our GHs? We could have some extra item storage, keep a pet or two there, throw some trophies in. Those things are so big, why not utilize the space more effectively?

I'd love the 'challenge' option.

You talk to an NPC, and you get to an arena with a monster, you kill it, you get to a harder one.

Angry Purpose of NPCs in guild hall

Ok, when I first came to our guild hall, I was very dissapointed. There were NPCs that I can find nearly in every city. So what's the point of it? Can they do something better? No. So why spending money on them or visit them? They should be special in some way. Like they can customize your armor for a price. Let's say I give my 15k armor to armorer at our hall and I can make some visual changes on it for a price of course. And there should be more NPCs that can't be found anywhere but here. There should be a storage room for giving away items for our members when I want to help them...
